END OF THE LITPRAX PROJECT

The Erasmus+ project Literature in praxis: professional challenges of reading, translation and editing in the digital age (LITPRAX, 2021-1-SI01-KA220-HED-000023037), coordinated by the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), with the participation of the West University of Timisoara (Romania), the University of Novi Sad (Serbia), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC, Spain) and the Malinc publishing house (Slovenia), has successfully concluded.

The project was designed on the reading habits and skills of students from universities in the participating countries, in order to broaden and deepen their reading skills and to improve their capacities in the field of literary production. During the project duration, five consortium meetings were organised; three seminars on translation, interpretation and editing of texts for students from Serbia, Slovenia and Romania, as well as guests from Hungary and the Czech Republic; three multiplier events, one of which took place at the Frankfurt Book Fair; a LITPRAX scientific symposium and a large number of dissemination activities where the results of the project were presented. Many Spanish and Latin American editors and writers participated in the LITPRAX activities, including: Juan Mayorga, Santiago Roncagliolo, Andrea Jeftanovic, Pablo Remón, María Negroni, Mario Obrero and others.

One of the three results of the project was the 3 ECTS LITPRAX Curriculum, implemented in the three participating universities. The Curriculum offers, on the one hand, an overview of literature written in Spanish in the 21st century and, on the other, investigates practical elements linked to reading, translating and editing literature. Another result was the LITPRAX Database, which collected and will continue to collect literary translations from Spanish into Serbian, Slovenian and Romanian from 2000 to the present. All references, which are available on the LITPAX Website and Database, cover 2,311 entries of original works, 3,293 entries of translations, 2,582 persons (authors, translators, reviewers, etc.), 596 entries of translation reviews and 228 articles. The third result of the project is a complex and extensive LITPRAX Manual with Activity Book (974 pages), focused on Spanish and Latin American literature of the 21st century, which can be downloaded free of charge from the LITPRAX website, the University of Ljubljana and Malinc Publishing House.
