Barbara Pregelj

Barbara Pregelj holds a PhD in Literary Sciences and is a full professor at the University of Nova Gorica. She holds a degree in Hispanic Philology and Comparative Literature, which, after finishing her studies in Ljubljana, she also studied at the University of Salamanca (Spain). She did her master's degree on the Spanish Baroque and received her doctorate with a thesis on kitsch elements in contemporary Slovenian literature. As a translator into Slovenian and Spanish and from Basque, Catalan and Galician, she plays the role of mediator between Slovenian, Iberian and Latin American cultural spaces. She is also a permanent sworn interpreter for the Spanish language. As a translator and interpreter, she is passionately interested in the question of reading and interpreting texts, and as an editor, in how to infect as many readers as possible with the virus of good literature.
